Zimmerman Not Guilty

What a travesty. What an utter and complete miscarriage of justice.

“Only in America can a dead black boy go on trial for his own murder.” -Syreeta McFadden

Truer words never spoken.

I would say I’m speechless, but I’m not. I’m outraged. Meanwhile, a black woman in Florida is serving 20 years in prison for firing a warning shot over the head of her abusive husband when he tried to attack her. Apparently, justice in Florida IS a matter of black and white.

Brian Beckmann Thinks Trayvon Martin’s Parents Are Sh!t Bags.

Apparently Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue Department Captain Brian Beckmann doesn’t like the arrest of Trayvon Martin’s killer. It seems that he doesn’t think much of Trayvon’s parents either.   Beckmann is under investigation by Miami-Dade Fire and Rescue for this cute little rant he posted on Facebook:

George Zimmerman

6 weeks after he killed Trayvon Martin, and 1 day after his lawyers dumped him on his ass, it appears as if George Zimmerman is finally going to be charged for Martin’s death. Florida special prosecutor Angela Corey will be holding a press conference at 6PM tonight, in which it is expected that she will announce that Zimmerman will be charged. Although details of the charges are not known yet, I would imagine it will be a manslaughter charge: Murder charges can only be filed by a grand jury under Florida state law, and Corey declined to convene the grand jury in this case.

As of right now, Zimmerman’s location is unknown. Zimmerman’s attorneys have stated that although he is still in the U.S, he is no longer in Florida. My guess is that he’s cowering in the basement of his personal confidant, Sean Hannity.

Zimmerman has been charged with second degree murder, and is in custody without bail.

Police Video Verifies That George Zimmerman Lied About Attack.

March 29, 2012 4 comments

The claims from George Zimmerman that he was attacked by Trayvon Martin has been undermined by a video of him being escorted into the Sanford police station by officers Mahoney and Tackleberry. The video clearly shows that Zimmerman had no blood or bruising around his head and shoulders, in spite of the leaked police report stating otherwise.

In addition, the funeral director who attended Trayvon Martin is stating that there were no cuts and bruised on Trayvon’s hands, which would have indicated a fight.

It’s time to stop dicking around with George Zimmerman, and time to prosecute his racist ass. His lies have been easily refuted, and he needs to be charged at the least, with aggravated murder.

Trayvon Martin Smoked Pot and Spray Painted Walls: Still Didn’t Deserve to Die.

Trayvon Martin Protest - Sanford

Trayvon Martin Protest - Sanford (Photo credit: werthmedia)

One month and a day after the shooting of Trayvon Martin, information continues to leak from both the Sanford police, and the high school that Trayvon attended. Stories are coming out that portray Trayvon as a pot smoking, graffiti spraying thug. The police are saying that George Zimmerman’s injuries that night are consistent with his claims that Trayvon Martin attacked him. Zimmerman told the police that Trayvon punched him in the nose, knocked him to the ground, and beat the back of his head against the sidewalk. The police report documents that Zimmerman had a bloodied nose, swollen lip, and contusion on the back of his head.

Some questions arise; what if this is all true? What if Trayvon confronted and attacked Zimmerman? Is it pertinent to the case that Trayvon was suspended from school for possession of a baggie with Marijuana residue. Does an earlier suspension for graffiti make him a thug deserving to be followed and shot?

The answer is no. Zimmerman had no idea who Trayvon was the night he decided to follow him, packing a 9MM pistol. He didn’t know about the weed, or the graffiti. All he saw was a black man wearing a hoodie, walking around at night. Trayvon was tried and convicted by George Zimmerman based on appearance, and appearance only.

Was Zimmerman attacked? Possibly, however, it’s quite possible that Zimmerman’s following of Trayvon scared the shit out of the teenager, and as a result Trayvon reacted out of self defense of his own safety. As a young black man out alone, what would you think if you were closely followed by someone in a vehicle? You either fight or run like hell, I’m guessing Trayvon decided to fight.

What’s important to remember is this: Zimmerman was told not to follow, to let the police do their job. He followed any way. He knowingly entered into a situation that could have, and did escalate into deadly violence. Why? Because it was a black man wearing a hoodie; a sure threat to Zimmerman, and the neighborhood that he was “protecting.”

This case reminds me to some extent of a jury trial that I sat on some years ago. A retired brick layer who was prosecuted for damn near gutting and killing another man was claiming self defense. The brick layer was sitting in a bar knocking back a few when the other man was thrown out for starting a fight in the bar. On his way out, the younger man, who was drunk off his ass, invited anyone in the bar to come outside to “get some if they wanted some.” Moments later, the bricklayer followed the drunk man outside, a rather large locking blade knife in his hand, a knife that he showed to be quite proficient with during the course of the trial. Of course, the younger, drunk and angry man confronted the brick layer, and as a result, the younger man was slit from his belly to his chest.

After a day of deliberation, the jury I was a part of decided from the testimony of the witnesses, that the brick layer knowingly entered that situation looking for a fight. He was convicted of assault, with intent to kill.

It’s obvious that Zimmerman entered into this situation under the same pretense as the brick layer. It was an opportunity to teach Trayvon a lesson for whatever crime Zimmerman perceived that he was about to commit. He was after all, a young black man wearing a hoodie, out after dark armed to the teeth with iced tea and Skittles.

At the most, Zimmerman should be prosecuted for committing a hate crime, at the least, he should be prosecuted for aggravated murder. Trayvon’s family deserves at the least that much justice.

Trayvon Martin: “Why Are You Following Me?”

Trayvon Martin Protest - Sanford

Partially prompted by national outrage and online petitions of protest, the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division, as well as the FBI, have opened an investigation into the murder of Trayvon Martin. A statement was released by the Justice Department concerning the Martin case:

“The department will conduct a thorough and independent review of all of the evidence and take appropriate action and the conclusion of the investigation. … The government must prove beyond a reasonable doubt that a person acted intentionally and with the specific intent to do something which the law forbids. Negligence, recklessness, mistakes and accidents are not prosecutable under the federal criminal civil rights laws.”

Of course this still doesn’t mean that George Zimmerman will ever be arrested and convicted for the shooting of Trayvon Martin, but at least there is an investigation, which is more attention than what the Sanford police afforded to the shooting at the time.

In other areas related to the case, an unidentified 16 year old girl has revealed to Martin family attorney Benjamin Crump that she was on the phone with Trayvon 5 minutes before he was gunned down by George Zimmerman. According to the girl, she told Trayvon to run when he told her he was being followed. A few minutes later, she heard a brief exchange between Martin and Zimmerman before a scuffle ensued and the phone went dead.

According to the girl:” Trayvon said, ‘What, are you following me for,’ and the man said, ‘What are you doing here.’ Next thing I hear is somebody pushing, and somebody pushed Trayvon because the head set just fell. I called him again and he didn’t answer the phone.”

Furthermore, although Zimmerman claimed to the police that he was part of a neighborhood watch program, it was revealed by the National Neighborhood Watch program that Zimmerman is not part of any registered watch group. In my opinion, Zimmerman is nothing more than a whack job racist vigilante, who was looking for any reason to go all Dirty Harry on the first African American who dared to be out after dark in his presence.–abc-news.html?back=%2F
