Ever since primary season began, Bernie Sanders has been my guy. I donated time to his campaign, I voted for him in the Kentucky primary. Even though the death knell has been sounding for his campaign for weeks, I bought into the mid season momentum that he built up. I was for him taking the fight all the way to the Democratic Convention. However, after his loss in the California primary, it’s time to throw in the towel. You fought a good fight Bernie, but now it’s time to step aside and let Hillary fight Trump with the full force of the Democratic Party.
I’m not a big fan of HRC. It has nothing to do with Benghazi, or the e-mails. Those are nothing more than attack tactics, conjured up by a completely unhinged GOP. The reason I don’t care for HRC is because she’s more Republican than Democrat. She’s more conventional than unconventional. It’s also not a gender thing for me: I would love to see a woman president, just a more progressive woman such as Elizabeth Warren or Jill Stein.
Bernie is about change, Hillary is about keeping the status quo. Bernie appeals to the disenfranchised, while Hillary appeals to Wall Street. Bernie is the rumpled, comfortable sport coat, while Hillary is the expensive Armani jacket. Still, it’s time for Bernie to let go, and work toward reuniting the Democratic Party. There is much at stake this election year, and there is still a lot of work to be done if we don’t want a mad man leading our country. Unfortunately, for me at least, that’s what it has come down to: Keeping Donald Trump and his merry band of misogynistic racist whackos out of office. At worst, HRC would keep things the same. Trump will destroy this country. He won’t make America great again. He’ll make America even more rabid and dangerous on the world front than it already is. He’s Voldemort with a spray tan and bad toupee. He’s nothing more than a con artist with no decorum, and no clue. He’s the candidate of many bankruptcies, both financially and morally. He’s bad for this country, he’s bad for the world, he’s just bad-period.
There you have it: It’s all over but the shouting. It’s Hillary Rodham Clinton vs. Donald Trump. Seems more like a threat than a choice doesn’t it? Still, in the months to come, I’m lining up behind Hillary, like the good little liberal soldier I am. My heart says support Jill Stein, a third party candidate with views very much in line with Bernie Sanders. However, my head remembers what the third party run of Ross Perot did to the campaign of George H.W. Bush: He divided conservative votes, and Bill Clinton won the day. I would rather vote for the lesser of two evils, than see evil incarnate himself become our next and probably last president.
I know I sound pessimistic, but that’s where I’m at today.
But hey, at least I’m writing again, so I have that going for me 🙂
Iran shot a monkey into space yesterday? How could we let that happen? The next thing we know, Iran will be shooting monkeys at Israel and America! This is why we need more guns: To ward off Iranian space monkey invasions!
I blame Hillary Clinton and President Obama for allowing this to happen. Maybe we should send a drone to kill off all the monkeys in the Mideast. We really need to send those gray tufted bastards a message!
Good lord. I’m speechless, other than this one thought:
Things are really turning ugly in Iran. The protesters in Tehran are now numbering in the hundreds of thousands, and Iranian lawmakers are calling for the executions of opposition leaders Mir Hossein Mousavi, Mahdi Karroubi and former reformist President Mohammad Khatami. You thought Egypt and Tunisia were violent? This has the possibility of making those two uprisings look like playground squabbles.
