Superstorm Sandy: Cuomo Calls it as He Sees it.

As the East Coast struggles to recover from Superstorm Sandy, many of us can’t help but think that storms such as this are going to be the new normal. Global warming/climate change is very real, and yet, with only a few days left before the election, neither candidate is willing to address it. Governor Cuomo recognizes this catastrophe for what it is: how many more “superstorms” is the world going to have to recover from, before our “leaders” decide that real change in the way we treat our planet is desperately needed? I’m betting that it will be past the point of no return, and we’ll all be seriously fucked. Hell, it’s probably too late already.

Just like the Assault Weapons Ban question during the debate, both candidates can’t run from the topic fast enough. They both know the truth, but can’t afford to talk about it.

That’s because the American public will punish them for it. Why? Because doing something about it will hurt the American Way of Life (aka waste, inefficiency, shopping till you drop and worship of the car) Perhaps more importantly, actually doing something beyond the limit of acceptability, “building the jobs of the future” (manufacturing solar & windmills) will actually require a wholesale re-organization that would upset a whole lot of Powers That Be.

Not just the oil & gas and industry but others:
    – transportation
    – food supply
    – developers
    – trade & manufacturing
