Anders Breivik Went On Trial Today: Pleads Not Guilty
The trial of Norwegian mass murderer Anders Breivik began Monday morning in Oslo. Although Breivik admitted to the June 22 bombing and shootings that killed 77 people, a defiant Breivik entered a plea of self defense. Breivik stated to the court that ” I admit to the acts, but not criminal guilt.” Breivik insists that his actions were taken against the left wing party of Norway in order to protect the country from multiculturalism and Islam.
Breivik stood before the court with a closed fist salute and stated “I don’t recognize Norwegian courts because you get your mandate from the Norwegian political parties who support multiculturalism.” If declared competent to stand trial, Breivik stands to serve a maximum of 21 years in prison if convicted.
In related news, Mitt Romney is expected to name Breivik as his running mate in the 2012 presidential election. When asked, Romney is rumored to have stated “although Breivik isn’t as hard nosed as Rick Santorum, Anders is the perfect man to help my party close society in this country for good.”
