Rush, Patriarchy, And The GOP War on Women: Is This The “V” Generation?

Look away! Look away!

You have to love the unmitigated gall of the party of patriarchy. The GOP is working extra hard to make 2012 the year of the vagina. In fact, it appears as if they would like to define this entire decade as the “V” generation.

In the past few weeks, we have seen serious discussions in no less than 4 states about passing laws to force women to get vaginal ultra sounds. We have all male congressional committees discussion birth control. We have yet more bible belt states passing as many laws as they can to take the woman’s right to choose away from her.

We thankfully saw the defeat of the aptly named Blunt Amendment (after all, the GOP must have been high when they thought this moral whopper of misogyny up). This fucked up piece of legislation would have actually become a constitutional amendment allowing employers to deny insurance coverage on based on their sense of morality. Luckily, 51 senators had the sense to understand that this was just another senseless attack from the GOP in their continuing war on women. We have David Vitter bitching about birth control and conscience, probably while trying to figure out what diaper to wear during his next visit with his favorite prostitute.

And then there’s Rush Limbaugh.

Over the past three days, Rush has gone on another oxy fueled rant; this time his target is Sandra Fluke, the Georgetown legal student who testified in front of yet another congressional committee on coverage for contraception. While Fluke testified that many contraceptives were vital, and served other medical functions to women’s health, Rush was busy tearing her down in one of the most bizarre, vitriolic, sexist attacks I’ve heard in a while. He accused her of being a slut and a prostitute for starters, and it went way down hill from there. To say that Rush is a sexist, woman hating douchebag is a gross understatement.

However, Rush isn’t the problem; He’s a tool in a bigger movement. The christian conservative war on women. The Republicans are afraid: Afraid that they are losing their centuries old grip on the reigns of the patriarchal buggy of oppression. Their fear is driven by money, they want to keep it in their white bread, male dominated world, and no girls are allowed. By controlling the uterus, the poor threatened rich boys feel empowered, just like the “good old days.”

In the the tiny little minds of the GOP, capitalism should be controlled by cock, and no other genitalia is invited. Money is king, and equality is the poor little serf who gets invited to the castle when the king needs entertained.
It’s well past time to put the rabid dog of patriarchy down for good. We all need to realize that before our society fully turns into a Margaret Atwood novel.
